Galentines

What is GALentines?

February 13th, when you celebrate your love for your lady friends! A huge part of my heart is celebrating and loving the women in it. For a few years now I've celebrated Galentines with those close to me and its been a beautiful time together! So embrace it ladies - love on your sistas!

Some of my sweet GALintines!

GALentines Day ideas (if you live in NYC - sorry)

Disclaimer: It was so hard to not just recommend coffee shops.

1. Stumptown Coffee Roasters - 30 W 8th St, New York

It is my favorite place for coffee. It's cute and quirky and full of interesting people to just stare at! Stumptown is always very busy, so be prepared to just stand by the coffee bar or wait on a table.

2.The Cookshop - 156 10th Avenue, New York

This idea may need an extended lunch break!

I have been dying to eat at this restaurant for the best part of the last 3 years! Finally, on New Years Day we had brunch at The Cookshop. It did not disappoint! Take one of your gals (or all of them) to lunch and enjoy the atmosphere in The Cookshop. I had the huevos rancheros, and it was the best I've had...period! There's a few little extras with this restaurant - it is next door to the Highline Hotel, and in the lobby of the hotel is Intelligensia Coffee Company (I like coffee a lot - incase you didn't notice.) Intelligentsia is magical, and speaking of a magical experience there is a little boutique store beside the Cookshop called STORY. STORY is a retail concept that takes the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like a store. That means every four to eight weeks, STORY completely reinvents itself.

3. Mani/Pedi - On every corner!

Who wouldn't love to go for a mani/pedi on their lunch break!?! Spoil your friend and be pampered together!

4. Handmade Coffee Scrub

I had a Galentines brunch with a few lovely ladies once, and I made little favors for them to take home. This handmade coffee body scrub is easy to make, and when you use it in the shower it smells like a dessert! You can't go wrong with this idea, it's always extra special when you know someone has taken the time to hand-make something specifically for you.

5. Balthazar Boulangerie - 80 Spring Street, New York

This is a grab and go like none other! Take a walk to Soho, get a take away latte and a slice of their Raspberry Lemon Pound Cake and you can thank me forever! Delicious coffee and DELICIOUS CAKE!

The Galentines Sisterhood Exchange

Many of you know about my Sisterhood Community, within that I have a bunch of 'original sisters'. These are the ladies that this all began with - the 'Mug sisters'. I am so thankful to each one of them for taking a chance on this idea. Seeing the fruits of friendship blossom and the prayers shared amongst these ladies is truly an answer to the prayers of my heart.

2 Corinthians 9:7 'Let each one give as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion—for God loves a cheerful giver.'

Anyone can join and be part of this ministry so please do not wait on an invitation - if you want to be involved in the exchange program let me know right away! It doesn't matter where in the world you are - please do not let that stop you joining the exchange.

You are paired up with a 'sister' who becomes a prayer partner for the year. You send a little gift (no more that $20 in value) and a note of encouragement in the few exchanges that we do, I will directly message you details of where to send the gift. Amazon or online stores make this very simple as you can send directly to the person without having to run to the Post Office.

Most importantly, pray for the person that you are sending the gift to. In return, you will receive a gift and a note from a different sister who is praying for you.

You do not send and receive with the same person - this allows more people to create friendships and more prayers covering us all. We have a Facebook Sisterhood group chat and many times encouragement is shared there directly between everyone - it's a space to connect in our community and also a space to share prayer requests. This is the one group chat that I don't get annoyed at when my phone continuously 'pings'!

Please reach out if you would like to be part of this exchange - and I will quickly pair you with another Sister! For those of you already enrolled in The Galentine Exchange please send your gift as soon as possible to make sure that it reaches your gal in time for February 13th! Once you have received your gift - share it on instagram or Facebook, hashtag #thesisterhoodgalentineexchange and tag me and your sister!

I would encourage you to pray for everyone in The Sisterhood.

Pray for the ministry and the community that has been uniquely knit together by God.
