In the last few years – I made a point of using the lenten season to ‘return to Him’. I remember the first lent bible study I did with any real thought and a open heart…every day the study guides me to ask God to reveal my sins and failings. Boy oh boy!!! I remember that reaping up more than I could handle! I remember situations occurring, and being angry with God – because He was doing what I was asking and praying for! (go figure!!).

When you pray – with an open heart… be careful… He really is listening!!! My job sometimes takes me away from my personal study from God…. it’s ironic as I spend my life working for and serving Him. Many of the events I’m involved in contain lots of feeding my soul, prayer and worship and for that I’m so thankful. But I’m talking about my time, the study….just me and God… in my own private place.

When we get overwhelmed, we forget how big God is.

Sometimes my biggest struggle is working so hard for the Kingdom – that I get too busy being busy! I’m getting better with this, I’m learning when it’s ok to say no, when my body is physically telling me to stop and look after myself, when I’m too busy being busy! Psalm91:4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection

We all struggle, some of us with crippling hardships….. and we move further from God than running to Him. Each time I open myself for the lenten season, I can almost hear God say to me, “Return to me, RUN TO ME!” There have been situations in my life that I’ve been happy to run away from God, I’ve been ok with running to other things that I know God is not leading me too! But I’m growing... and I love the picture in my head...running to my Father in Heaven who is waiting with outstretched arms...for me!!I love that, I love the vision of His outstretched arms calling to me, His child, to run, return and repent!

Darkness IS NOT THE END!!!! Sometimes destruction is living in a broken world – BUT God is doing something more – Sometimes he is destroying the toxic in order to rebuild it! And sometimes (the hardest of all) He permits us to experience the hardship of our own choices so we depart from them – AND RUN TO HIM! I love this passage

Hosea 6v1 “Come let us return to the Lord, For he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down and he will bind us up.” it's a little more fierce in the message translation: “Come on, lets go back to God. He hurt us, but he’ll heal us. He hit us hard, but he’ll put us right again!” Don’t let this lent season pass without letting God strip you down, tear you apart in order build and bind you up again!

Open hearts running!
